GOAT ISLAND TOURRIVER 1 RUNDescription: Participants with basic established flat-water foundation will transition to moving water. Starting at Nechako River Side Park, participants will practice and learn the foundation set of skills needed to safely advance into moving water. The afternoon will be spent practicing and paddling to Goat Island. The course focuses on personal safety and managing hazards on the river using skills learned. Goal: The aim of the clinic is to get participants paddling comfortably on the moving water. By developing knowledge of basic river features and paddling techniques, participants will learn to navigate in a simple but dynamic river. Results: After completing this course, participants can expect to feel comfortable taking a personal (unguided) SUP trip on Class 1 rivers. They will have a better understanding of the potential hazards that a river may pose, along with a variety of new skills that can be applied to the moving water environment. DatesPrince George

Duration: 6+ hr Day Cost: $175 Skills Level: Intermediate Ages: 16+ (12+ accompanied by parent/guardian, Children and youth must have own PFD) Pre-Requisites: Introduction to Flat-water and Advanced Flat-water SUP, or similar experience (20+ hrs paddling with self rescue skills) Please note ahead of time that participants will be expected to know, understand and be able to paddle straight and perform flat water skills. These skills will be developed and combined to learn river skills. Gear Required.: Board, Quick Release Leash, Paddle, PFD, Helmet (All Gear Can be provided) Mandatory brought by participant: closed toe water shoes/old running shoes that can get wet Instructor to # of Students: 1:6 ( Minimum 2 students Maximum 6 ) |
